Overview
Task: design a poster in vertical dimensions to promote a design lecture of a well known designer
The poster must include: organizer name, event title, event date/time/location, a short event description, admission price, and call to action with website or contact information. My chosen designer was Eddie Opara.
First Round
This was the variation I was most partial to. I wanted to focus on the colorful, textured yet controlled aspect of his work. However, the composition was static and felt empty.
Second Round
Exploring the first variation from the first round with some more movement + overlaying banners
Played around with the composition of my third variant from the first round, keeping the texture + bright colors, but the text was placed awkwardly and too cramped
Third Round
Combined texture + color and composition of my variants together, but I ended up discarding these concepts because of the awkward positioning and spacing, most notably of the text
Placed body text at bottom of poster and played around with banners matching the in-and-out movement of Eddie Opara, less awkward and cramped but now there's a large empty space
