Concept: Designing a new feature- “capsules,” enabling organization of recommendations for a social retail app
For this internship, I designed a new organization feature for Treffa, a social retail app that enabled users to receive rewards for giving recommendations for other users’ requests. The feature aimed at improving how users curate and organize product recommendations. The goal of the capsules was to allow users to create personalized collections of items they love or recommend, making it easier to group products.
I began by conducting user research to understand how people were interacting with Treffa’s recommendation system. Many users expressed difficulty in rediscovering or organizing past recommendations. To solve this, I designed capsules to be a way for users to sort items into custom groups that could be easily shared or referenced later. Each capsule could be given a name, cover image, and description, making it not only functional but also visually engaging.
Using Figma, I developed wireframes and prototypes, ensuring the feature aligned with Treffa’s existing interface while introducing new elements like capsule cards and drag-and-drop organization. The capsule layout was designed to be clean and easy to navigate, allowing users to seamlessly add products from their feed or saved items.
